RIP STEVE JOBS

Steve Jobs focused on the end user experience and usability. He was about making beautiful, elegant and usable products. There were ups and downs, but the journey was a great one.

When Steve came back to Apple and they were fighting their way back, I remember sending him an email. I remember complaining about some problem with the educational support for schools at the time. He responded in a caring concerned way. Too bad that email was lost in the inbox of my first local internet provider.

Thank You Steve,

Albert Delgado
Whittier Dual Language School Technologist

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

Herman Cohn, Holocaust Survivor and Liberator, comes back to share his story with a new group of middle school students studying the Holocaust. During the month of May, Herman was in Europe sharing his story of surviving the Holocaust. We are glad he made the trip to the near west side and give a live presentation to our students.

For those not fortunate enough to be here in person, here is a video of the presentation.

Commentary on Video

Before reading: She talks to him about the cover of the book and then asks him a question about the book and cover before they read. This sparks his interest in the book and gets him thinking about what will happen in the book.

During reading: She pauses during reading to talk to him and to get him involved in what is happening in the book, but she is not “quizzing” him. It is natural and seems enjoyable.

She listens to his comments and questions about what is happening in the book and responds to his comments.

After reading, she talks to him briefly about what they have read and asks his opinion of the book.
